The name Davison has been synonymous with elite level equestrian sport in Great Britain for many years. Richard is a four-time Olympian (including the 2012 London Olympic Games) and has been at the fore-front of the international dressage world for three decades. As well as being among the world’s most experienced international riders he is in demand for his many other attributes.
The end of 2012 sees him completing his term of office as the British World Class Performance Manager and former British Dressage Team Captain. Since taking on the role in 2008, he has been credited for masterminding the strategic plan behind Britain’s most successful period of international successes resulting in their historic Olympic and European team golds and World Championship medals. Bring on Rio 2016 Olympics!
Gillian is a former point-to-point, national hunt jockey and event rider and in recent years has concentrated on producing the family’s young dressage stars. She has competed a number of horses on the international stage at Grand Prix dressage level.
Their sons Tom and Joe have both been members of Great Britain’s U21 jumping teams. They are both heavily involved in the competition, management and production of the family’s young dressage and Showjumping horses. Tom is an UKCC Accredited coach, having trained with the likes of Franke Sloothaak has a wealth of knowledge and a dedicated group of students in both dressage and jumping. Tom currently works as a trainer for Swiss Greek rider, Alessandra Bichsel. Prior to this, Tom spent many years training and coaching for world number 10, Darragh Kenny and his Oakland Ventures, LLC.
Having spent a major part of 2012 based with former Olympic gold medalist Jan Tops in Holland Joe also became second rider for the current team Olympic gold medalist Ben Maher. Now Joe is building up his own team of promising young jumpers whilst also helping Irish international show jumper, Billy Twomey, with his team of horses.
